The coldest month obviously is January with average temperature at -6°C (22°F). The wettest months areOctober & November. Tip: the best time to visit St. Petersburg weather-wise is late spring – early June. This is the season when weather is the most convenient for long hours of sightseeing.

The climate of Russia is mainly continental, with a big arctic section in the north. The east of the country experiences harsh, long, bitterly cold winters. The north of the country is always covered with snow and subject to permafrost. Southern Russia enjoys warm to sometimes hot summers with a lot rainfall, and very cold snowy winters. The two most pleasant seasons and best time to travel to Russia are spring and autumn. Then you find mild and dry weather in Russia.
