Nintendo’s Most Successful Smartphone Game Is ‘Fire Emblem Heroes’

Nintendo has launched several mobile games to date, a very different change in pace compared to several years ago when the company was adamant about not launching games on mobile. Turns out it was a great decision because according to the latest data from Sensor Tower (via AppleInsider), Fire Emblem Heroes has made the company a lot of money.

If the data is accurate, Fire Emblem Heroes has reportedly made Nintendo a whopping $500 million to date. This makes it the most successful mobile game that Nintendo has launched so far. This is versus other Nintendo titles such as Super Mario Run which only made $68 million to date (which Nintendo had previously expressed some disappointment at), along with Dragalia Lost and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp which made $74 million and $70 million respectively.

One of the possible reasons for the success of Fire Emblem Heroes is its long storied history and reputation over the years, plus given that it is free-to-play, it makes it easy to adopt. It is also said to be highly replayable which means that gamers can keep playing it over and over again, thus tempting them to spend money on “orbs” to summon heroes.

Nintendo has more mobile games planned, such as Mario Kart Tour which has the potential to be pretty popular as well, but we’ll have to wait and see.
