OnePlus demos the UNRELEASED OnePlus 7 with 5G at MWC 2019…

OnePlus is no stranger to doing things differently, and it is once again up to its old tricks at MWC 2019, where the company unveiled its brand new OnePlus 5G phone…

Thing is, you couldn’t actually see the phone. No, the handsets itself was encased inside a protective outer casing. Why? Simple: the phone isn’t due for a reveal for a few months, so OnePlus wants to keep the design under wraps.

OnePlus 5G Phone & 5G Cloud Gaming

OnePlus used MWC 2019 to confirm its commitment to 5G, the next-generation of mobile data coming inside 2019. The phone on display was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and hooked up with a gaming control.

Why a gaming control? OnePlus wanted to show off just how cool 5G cloud gaming is – and how easy it is when you have 5G. The handset, combined with a controller, allowed attendees to play HUGE, HD games over mobile data (with zero lag).

“Through the powerful capabilities of cloud processing as well as the throughput and responsiveness of 5G,” said OnePlus, “players can play large sized games online that are generally only playable after downloading onto the PC first.”

It added: “Utilizing Snapdragon elite gaming features and optimizations, players were able to experience high definition and low latency cloud gaming like never before.”

Why 5G Is So Important

OnePlus has been discussing 5G for years now, preparing its loyal customers for the speed and efficiencies of this new, latent network for ultra-fast mobile data.

OnePlus also confirmed it is working closely with EE to bring one of the first commercial 5G phones to market. This handset is likely the handset it used at MWC 2019 on the display.

“5G is a game changer. It can change everything from gaming to communication, to health and beyond. More than that, it can perform several, or all, of these at the same time,” said OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau

He added: “One great example of how 5G will change the world is gaming. 5G’s dramatic improvement in speed, latency, and network capacity can truly fulfill the promise of cloud gaming. Combined with powerful OnePlus devices, people can play advanced games anywhere they are, provided they are on a 5G connection.”

OnePlus 7 Release?

This new 5G phone is likely to be the OnePlus 7, a phone that will pick up where the OnePlus 6/6T left off, adding in more power, more specs, and support (at least in one model) for 5G.

When will the OnePlus 7 launch? Right now, nothing’s certain – but we should definitely see it launched and released inside Q2 2019.

And after the OnePlus 6/6T, I am expecting BIG THINGS from this phone…
