Google Duo Audio Calls Now Rolling Out To Google Home Devices

Google Duo is the company’s answer to video calls. Previously Google had largely relied on Hangouts for video and audio calls, but with Hangouts now focused more on enterprise users, those who wanted to make video or audio calls over the internet had to use Duo (as one of the many alternatives).

Now the good news is that it looks like Duo’s functionality is increasing because according to a report from Android Police, it seems that if you’re using a Google Home device, you should be able to place a Duo audio call using it. Previously Google had rolled out support for Duo video calls on its Home Hub device.

Google had also stated back then that the Home Hub would support audio calls too, so it makes sense that the feature would also expand to other Home devices as well. Now Google has yet to officially announce anything and it is unclear how users can get it to work, but Android Police has tried it out themselves and found that it does work. Maybe it is getting pushed out in stages or maybe it’s currently being tested, but either way it is a feature to look out for.

In the meantime Duo can also now be accessed from the web if you do want to place a call without having to reach for your phone.
