Pixel 2 And Pixel 2 XL No Longer Available From Google Store

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are quite capable devices even though they’re not what you’d call “recent.” They were released in 2017 after all. However, Google would much rather you buy the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL which are its recent devices. To that end, it’s subtly nudging customers towards those devices by ending sales of the aforementioned handsets through its online store.

It is no longer possible to purchase a Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL from the Google Store. The product listings for these devices will now redirect you to the Pixel 3 page instead. Even the “Phones” section of the store doesn’t list the Pixel 2 devices any more.

Google did offer a discount on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL a couple of months ago. That might very well have been to sell the remaining inventory at a discounted rate. With the inventory cleared, it will now stop selling the device online.

Those who are still looking to purchase a new unit will now have to look towards retailers. Some retailers may have new units in stock so it’s not like it’s currently impossible to get a new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL unit. However, it will be much better if they get the recent handsets, keeping in mind that they will have an additional year’s worth of major OS update support.
