Samsung Galaxy S10e Does Not Feature A Heart Rate Sensor

When Samsung announced their lineup of Galaxy S10 smartphones, one of the models that was announced is the Galaxy S10e which is supposed to be the “budget” model of the Galaxy S10 lineup. As a budget model, we expected that Samsung would “compromise” on certain aspects of the phone, and one of those features is the heart rate sensor.

For those who are unfamiliar, Samsung has included a heart rate sensor in its previous flagship smartphones. It’s not necessarily a hugely advertised feature, which is why when Samsung did not make any mention of it at their Unpacked event, we didn’t think too much of it. However, according to SamMobile, it seems that to make the phone more affordable, the company has opted to do away with the feature for the Galaxy S10e.

Is this a deal breaker? Not necessarily, because it seems that there are third-party apps out there that can do the same thing, or at least come close, so perhaps it might be worth checking out if you absolutely have to have it. In case you did not know about the heart rate sensor, basically it uses the camera on the back of your phone to scan your finger to attempt to try and detect your heart rate through your blood flow.

It definitely isn’t quite as accurate as more dedicated heart rate sensors, it could still come in handy if you’re trying to establish some kind of baseline of sorts.
