Tesla Enhanced Summon Upgrade Rolls Out In The U.S. Next Week
Tesla showed off its Enhanced Summon upgrade last year. The self-parking feature gets improved and becomes capable of driving around parking lots, finding empty spots, and reading parking signs. CEO Elon Musk said at that time that the car will be able to drive to the owner’s phone location and even follow them like a pet if they hold the summon button on the app. Tesla will now be rolling out this update in the United States next week.
Musk has confirmed that Enhanced Summon will be widely available in the country for Tesla owners who paid extra for the Enhanced Autopilot or the Full Self-Driving packages. Musk also added that international support for the functionality is going to arrive soon as well.
The feature understandably has some limitations for safety. It can be used in parking lots and the owner or their location pin has to be within 150 feet of the car. So this functionality won’t be that helpful if you’re in a massive shopping center and your car is at the other side.
Nevertheless, it does improve Summon’s functionality quite a bit. The feature could only be used for inching into and out of tight parking spots previously. Even if you don’t use it much, it’s yet another thing you can show off to your friends who don’t have a Tesla.
