Instagram Could Be Testing A Co-Watching Feature

One of the features of Facebook is its Watch Together feature where users can watch Facebook videos “together”, kind of like if you were gathered around in real-life. It looks like Instagram is now testing out the feature as well, according to a tweet by researcher Jane Manchun Wong who shared screenshots of the feature in action.

This is actually not the first time we’ve heard about Instagram testing out this feature. It was initially reported back in March 2019 where it was Wong who had made the discovery, but now it looks like the feature’s UI has been revealed. From what we can tell, it lets users watch Instagram feed videos with a friend, where your faces will be shown at the bottom where you can watch each other’s reactions and talk to each other using your voice.

It sounds like a fun feature, although we have to wonder how many people will actually use it. That being said, there is no word on when Instagram plans to roll out the feature, if at all, because it looks like it is only being tested at the moment. In any case, for those who do enjoy the Facebook Watch Together feature, perhaps this could be of interest to you and we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for when it does eventually get released.

Instagram's Co-watching media picker is essentially tabs of Explore, Saved and Liked

It's somehow also showing me photos though. Unless Instagram designed Co-Watching so we can stare at an image together, it will be fixed when released pic.twitter.com/dppinRAlBX
