Google Reportedly Has 15 Million Subscribers Across Its Music Apps

Google has reportedly racked up more than 15 million subscribers across its YouTube Music and Google Play Music services. A new report reveals this figure and also points out that it includes free and/or promotional trials as well. While the figure is nowhere near as high as Spotify’s, it does show that Google has seen some success with its streaming music subscriptions.

Much like its rivals, YouTube Music costs $9.99 per month for on-demand music streaming. There’s also a six person family plan that costs $14.99 per month. The company has already said that YouTube Music will be its primary music streaming service. Google Play Music will be phased out gradually once the former gets all of its functionality and launches in the same markets.

As far as porting functionality over from Google Play Music to YouTube Music is concerned, it hasn’t happened as quickly as some might have hoped. For example, user uploads and playlists have still not been ported over to YouTube Music.

Bloomberg reports that Google now has more than 15 million subscribers across both of the services. It’s obviously not as high as Spotify’s 100 million subscribers or Apple Music’s 50 million, but it’s more than double that of Pandora which has around 7 million subscribers.
