A New BlackBerry Device Codenamed ‘Monet’ Could Be In The Works

While a lot of the focus has been on smartphones from the more mainstream brands, let’s not forget that BlackBerry is still very much in the race. In fact, it seems that a new BlackBerry handset codenamed “Monet” could be in the works thanks to references made to the handset in config files.

At the moment, not much is known about the handset in question except that it sports the model number BBJ100 and that it could come in single-SIM and dual-SIM options. Other than that, we can’t be sure if it a flagship handset, a phone with a physical keyboard, or if it will be completely touchscreen.

The last time we saw a BlackBerry smartphone was in 2018 with the BlackBerry Evolve and the Evolve X. This means that it does seem about the right time for the company to launch a new phone, and chances are it will most likely be a flagship. It will also most likely continue to run on Android, but this is purely speculation on our part.

Hopefully, the sighting in the config files means that the phone could be inching closer towards an official announcement, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for if and when that happens.
