Angry Fans Are Google Bombing Game Of Thrones Writers
Game of Thrones fans were very excited for the final season of this epic series. It is, without a doubt, one of the most popular TV shows on the planet. It achieved this status because of some brilliant writing and the way that the story has been told over the past seven seasons. However, many fans are angry with the way season 8 has unfolded, and they’re now expressing that anger by Google bombing Game of Thrones writers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.
For those who are unware, Google bombing is basically the practise of making Google’s algorithms think that a search term is related to a topic that’s otherwise unrelated. This can be done for both search results and image results.
These angry fans, part of the r/Freefolk subreddit, succeeded briefly in getting the search term “bad writers” show a picture of Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. This has since been rectified and searching for the term now will return results about similar news stories instead of the image that was being displayed earlier.
The unusual methods aside, fans do have some genuine concerns with the way season 8 has played out so far. Whether it’s the seemingly breakneck pace with which is story is being wrapped out or a rogue coffee cup not getting spotted, Weiss and Benioff have just one episode left to redeem themselves in front of these fans.
