DJI Could Be Working On A GoPro Action Camera Competitor
DJI is a company that many might be familiar with as a company that specializes in making drones. GoPro, on the other hand, might be more known as a company that specializes in action cameras. However, we have seen in the past that GoPro has attempted to develop its own drones, and now DJI could be looking to do the same with action cameras as well.
This is according to a tweet by OsitaLV who claims to have heard that DJI might be looking to develop its own action camera that could compete with the likes of GoPro. Exactly what this entails remains to be seen since details are pretty scarce at this point in time, but apparently it could be apparently it could be based on the DJI Osmo Pocket with an ultrawide lens.
For those unfamiliar, the DJI Osmo Pocket was launched last year where it is essentially a gimbal with a fixed camera. DJI has made several gimbals in the past, but they usually required users to attach their own camera/smartphone, but the Osmo Pocket came with a built-in camera that was small enough to fit into, well, your pocket.
This means that taking the tech of the Osmo Pocket and stuffing it into the body of an action camera doesn’t seem entirely impossible. Take this with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more details to share soon.
I heard some rumors about a new DJI action camera to compete with GoPro.
Technically there is no problems, by repackaging OSMO Pocket with super-wide angle lenses.
True or not?
What about OSMO Pocket if this thing really came out?— OsitaLV (@OsitaLV) April 24, 2019
