Ford Launching GoRide Patient Transport Service Nationwide
Ford launched GoRide, its non-emergency medical transport service, last year. It has gradually been expanding the service to more markets across the country. Ford has now confirmed that GoRide is being expanded nationwide. It will be available in 40 cities across the country following a trial run in Michigan and Toledo.
“Despite a critical and growing need across our country, most patients are unable to find reliable transportation and drivers who understand their needs. GoRide Health can fill that gap,” said GoRide Health CEO Minyang Jiang.
With GoRide, Ford provides non-emergency transportation for patients who may face difficulties in making their appointments on time. Their health care providers can thus book rides for them in Transit vans that have drivers and equipment to handle special needs such as wheelchairs.
Ford has confirmed that the service will now be expanded to Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus in Ohio later this year. It will also be available to Florida residents by the end of this year.
The company will then open up the service to more states by 2020. They will include California, Louisiana, Texas, and North Carolina. Availability may only be limited to urban areas as Ford is still working on making GoRide effectively available in rural areas. Despite that, Ford expects to have more than 130 vans in the GoRide fleet by the end of this year and over 200 by the end of 2020.
