Future Samsung TVs Could Be Completely Wireless
At the moment the majority of our electronics required wired connections to keep them powered on. However Samsung appears to be exploring technology that could potentially one day result in TVs that are completely free of wires. This is based on a recently discovered patent by the folks at LetsGoDigital.
According to the patent, it describes a system in which there will be an electromagnetic bar mounted in between the TV and the wall. It will draw power from a base station that also doubles up as a soundbar, meaning that that’s where the TV will be getting its power from. This would result in a TV that does not require any cables or wires to keep itself powered, although we guess attaching a set-top box or other devices would be a different story.
Of course why exactly we would need a wireless TV is unclear since the gap between the base station and the TV doesn’t appear to be too big to the extent where you could move the TV around the room wherever you like, but it’s an intriguing idea nonetheless. It also helps deal with messy cables, and it is possible that this base station could potentially be used to charge other devices as well like phones and tablets, giving it more use.
However since this is only a patent, there’s no telling if Samsung will actually make it into a reality, so it’s probably best not to get your hopes up at seeing a wireless TV anytime soon.
