Introducing: Rossignol

Skis Rossignol S.A. or simply just- ‘Rossignol’ was founded in 1907 by Abel Rossignol, a French skiing enthusiast and craftsman. Abel was the head of a wood turnery in a town just northeast of Grenoble. He decided to create his own pair of downhill skis, and very quickly he became recognised for his talent. This then led to Abel establishing a new “skis and sleds” division of his company, which saw his production reaching several hundred per year.

The French company are a groundbreaking brand producing winter clothes, Alpine, snowboard and Nordic ski equipment. Rossignol made groundbreaking advances in the skiing world, becoming one of the first companies ever to produce plastic skis.

In the 1960s, Rossignol started to have a surge during the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, California when Jean Vuarnet of France won the downhill on Allais 60s, the company’s first set of all-metal skis. Following on from this, in the 1970s, Rossignol set up a distribution company in the U.S. which saw the company rise to be the world’s largest ski manufacturer.

For over 100 years now, Rossignol has become the benchmark in winter sports equipment, striving to make skiing, easier, more inspiring and more fun whilst also offering a stylish alternative to other competitors.

As the company has grown in popularity, Rossignol now trades worldwide, alongside ski equipment, Rossignol is now also responsible for creating high-quality jackets, hoodies and sweatshirts which can be found on the Mainline Menswear website. These designer jackets by Rossignol are specifically designed to keep you warm and looking good no matter what the weather.
