According to the rumors, Apple is set to release the iPad mini 5 in the near future. The tablet has not been updated in years and if you were hoping to see a brand new design similar to the new iPad Pros, think again. This is because according to photos published by 91Mobiles (via Cult of Mac), it seems that Apple won’t be straying too far from the previous design.

The photos depict and alleged case that will be used for the iPad mini 5 and judging by its design, it looks all too familiar which klnd of dashes any hope that the tablet will be undergoing a major design revamp. It is a bit of a pity as the iPad mini is actually a pretty decently-sized tablet that we would have liked to see given a more modern update, but it is also understandable that Apple would want to push customers towards their newer iPad Pros.

The case shows few different cutouts for ports which includes one at the bottom which presumably will still be Lightning instead of USB-C. There is also a cutout for the camera at the top with a single hole, so if you were hoping for a dual camera or a camera with a flash, you might be out of luck (but then again how many of us actually take photos using our tablets).

There is also a cutout at the top which suggests that Apple could be continuing to retain the headphone jack, which kind of feels like the only piece of good news. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully Apple will have official details for us soon.
