NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Will Make Gaming Laptops Cheaper
Many had been wondering if NVIDIA was planning to bring its GTX 1660 Ti GPUs without ray-tracing to laptops. The company has every intention of doing that, it has confirmed. NVIDIA has unveiled the GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1650 Max-Q GPUs, claiming that they offer up to 50 percent improved gaming performance compared to the previous generation GTX 1060-based gaming laptops and up to four times the performance of the GTX 960M.
The gaming laptops which will feature the GTX 1650 are going to start at $799 and thus put these gaming machines within the reach of more customers, those who don’t really want to spend a couple of thousand dollars on a notebook.
As far as the performance is concerned, there’s going to be a boost of about 20 percent on older titles like Fallout 4 and a boost of up to 50 percent on newer games like Battlefield V. NVIDIA did point out that this is a compelling proposition for customers who are upgrading from three or even four year old laptops as they will get up to 400 percent improvement in frame rates compared to the 960M-powered laptops.
There will be around 80 laptop designs in which the NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1650 Max-Q GPUs will be launched in. They will start being available from April 23rd, priced at $799 for the lower-end models. Prices will obviously go higher for the more up-spec models.
