Pepsi’s New ‘Hydration Platform’ Is Basically A New SodaStream
Pepsi has announced the launch of a new “Hydration Platform” which is essentially a new, connected SodaStream. That’s not going to bother SodaStream given that it’s actually owned by Pepsi now. The drink station will enable users to whip up their own beverages but it won’t be Pepsi that they’ll make. This water dispenser system will let users create their own zero-calorie beverage.
It will be possible to select through the touchscreen just how carbonated you’d like the beverage to be, how cold you want it, and what flavors you’d like. You could also opt for no flavors when you’re just in the mood for simple uncarbonated water.
The water dispenser will also keep track of users’ daily water intake and let them set their daily hydration goals. It will even track the environmental impact with a unique count of the plastic bottles saved with each pour and will also save unique preferences such as carbonation levels and favorite flavors for future use.
Pepsi says that this platform is going to be launched later this year at “select workplaces, universities, and hospitality partners.” Whether or not a personal mode will be offered for use in the home remains to be seen, but that may likely happen.
