Samsung Is Now Recalling All Early Review Units Of The Galaxy Fold
As some of you might have heard, Samsung ran into some issues with the early review units of the Galaxy Fold that they sent out to some social media influencers and tech publications. The issue, for those unfamiliar, was that the display was “failing” on some users due to them peeling off the protective layer on the screen, which was initially thought to be just a regular screen protector.
Now according to a report from Reuters, it seems that Samsung is recalling those units back. This has since been confirmed by GSMArena who also had their review unit recalled and was given a statement by the company that reads, “The launch has been delayed whilst we uncover the underlying factors to the few devices that malfunctioned. In order that we check all devices, we are recalling all review samples.”
Note that this is a recall of the review units sent out, not a recall like was the case with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that caught on fire a couple of years ago. This was to be expected since Samsung will most likely be sending those reviewers new units to review. The company has since also officially announced that they will be delaying the launch of the Galaxy Fold by a few weeks while they sort this out.
