Samsung Officially Delays The Launch Of The Galaxy Fold
Yesterday we had reported that Samsung had apparently delayed its launch event for the Galaxy Fold in China. It was speculated that it could be due to the various issues with the handset that early reviewers had encountered. Unfortunately, if you were one of those who were hoping to get their hands on the Galaxy Fold at launch, you might be disappointed to learn that it has been officially delayed.
According to Samsung’s statement, “While many reviewers shared with us the vast potential they see, some also showed us how the device needs further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience. To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold. We plan to announce the release date in the coming weeks.”
The company also adds that they will be working on strengthening the display protection, as well as provide better guidance on how customers should handle their devices. It is a bit embarrassing for the company, but at the same time, it is new tech and as such we expect that there will be some teething problems.
Exactly when the phone will be released remains to be seen, but as Samsung notes, they will announce that in the next few weeks. Hopefully, this will be a lesson to some of Samsung’s competitors, namely Huawei who is also expected to release their Mate X foldable smartphone later this year.
