Samsung Trademarks Novel Feature Call ‘Celeb Alarm’

Given that most Android smartphones are powered by similar hardware, and that they all run on Android, companies need to come up with a ways to help differentiate their products from each other. It seems that Samsung could have an idea on how to do that with a feature called “Celeb Alarm”.

In a trademark filed by Samsung and spotted by LetsGoDigital, it is described as a “software for an alarm service with voices of entertainers”. Basically it sounds like an alarm clock that will wake you up using your favorite celebrity’s voice. Is it novel? Pretty much, but we suppose it could be a way to draw users to Samsung’s mobile devices.

This is not the first time we’re seeing celebrities have their voices used in apps. Waze had previously also featured the voices of various celebrities to help drivers navigate their roads, and admittedly such features did manage to attract some users over to its platform. We’re not sure if Samsung actually has plans to make this feature a reality, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

The company has plans to officially launch the Galaxy S10 on the 20th of February, so perhaps we might learn more about it then.
