Surfer Loses Apple Watch At Sea, Gets It Back 6 Months Later Still Working

If you were to drop your gadget by accident at sea, most of us would probably write it off and would never imagine we would see it again. However, that isn’t the case with surfer Robert Bainter who lost his Apple Watch while surfing, but miraculously he managed to get it back six months later where it was still in working condition.

Speaking to KTLA, Bainter recounted how he was surfing a huge wave when he raised his hand to discover that his Apple Watch was gone. He spent the next hour looking for it and then used Apple’s Find my iPhone app to turn on Lost Mode for the watch. Bainter would return to the beach every now and then in hopes that he would find his Apple Watch, but after 6 months, he had pretty much given up all hope.

That was until one day out the blue, he received a phone call from a number he did not recognize. According to Bainter, “It’s this guy saying, ‘hey if your name is Rob Bainter and you lost an Apple Watch recently. Give me a call and if you can describe this I’ll give this thing to you.'”

“He was just walking looking for shells and he found it right there. It was a dream come true, I couldn’t believe it!” What was even more amazing is that despite it having been lost at sea for half a year, it was still functional. The screen was a bit hazy from the salt water, but other than that, it seemed to be working just fine.
