T-Mobile And Comcast Working On An Anti-Robocalling Feature

Are you sick of receiving robocalls? At the moment one of the best ways to go about protecting yourself is simply by ignoring calls from numbers you’re not familiar with. It’s not necessarily the most efficient method, but it works. However, the good news is that T-Mobile and Comcast want to make your lives easier.

The carrier has announced and confirmed that they are working on an anti-robocalling feature that they are developing with Comcast. This feature is expected to work by displaying calls that are authentic by displaying a “Caller Verified” sign on the screen of the user. According to T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere, “Robocalls and spam calls are an industry-wide problem, and we’ve got to join forces to keep consumers protected. Today, we’re the first to cross industry lines to do just that.”

T-Mobile will not be the first to implement robocall protection, although they might be the first to implement the feature across multiple networks. Just last month AT&T had also announced that they have successfully tested the STIR/SHAKEN-authenticated technology (which is what is used to protect against robocalls).

Verizon had also previously announced that they will be rolling out their own spam and robocall protection to their customers. Whether or not this will do away with spam and robocalls for good remains to be seen, but hopefully it’ll help cut down on them drastically.
