The Best Games Coming To The Nintendo Switch In 2019

From Luigi to Yoshi, there’s a lot to love.
The Nintendo Switch is almost two years old and in that time it’s been a massive success for the company. The Switch is the company’s seventh gaming console–and it looks unlike any other console you’ve ever seen. The Switch itself is shaped like a tablet computer with two detachable controllers on either side. These controllers can be removed and assembled to for a traditional joystick.
The Switch, like all consoles, is designed to be plugged into your TV, but it also features a 6.6in LCD display, which enables it to be used as a portable gaming machine when the controllers are attached and the device is unplugged from the TV. Finally, the Switch eschews downloadable games and optical discs in favor of flash ROM cartridges.
While the Switch has an interesting design for a console, it’s the games that have made it so successful. So far the Switch has had hits like Sonic Mania, Super Mario Odyssey, Yoshi, Lost Sphear, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Here’s what to look forward to in 2019.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Bloodstained is an exploration-focused, side-scrolling platformer featuring RPG and crafting elements. Koji Igarashi, the namesake of “Igavania”-style games, is leading the project, with Michiru Yamane composing the music and DICO leading the development. You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist’s curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. In order to save yourself, and indeed, all of humanity, you must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.
Daemon x Machina
A brand-new, fast-paced mech action game from Kenichiro Tsukuda is coming to Nintendo Switch. Take your Arsenal, a fully customizable powered suit, out for an array of missions to surmount the enemy at all costs. Choose and equip your Arsenal with a multitude of weapons, obtain more from downed enemy Arsenals, and swap them on the fly to suit your strategy in the face of ever-changing threats.
Doom Eternal
Developed by id Software, DOOM Eternal is the direct sequel to the award-winning and best-selling DOOM (2016). Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat. As the DOOM Slayer, return to take your vengeance against the forces of Hell. Set to an all-new pulse-pounding soundtrack composed by Mick Gordon, fight across dimensions as you slay new and classic demons with powerful new weapons and abilities.
Luigi's Mansion 3
The good news is the next installment of the Luigi’s Mansion series is coming in 2019. The bad news is that we know almost nothing about it. Matter of fact, Luigi’s Mansion 3 isn’t even its official title. However, given how popular its predecessors were, there’s little doubt that this game will be one of the biggest on the Switch in 2019.
Yoshi's Crafted World
Lead Yoshi on a brand new Nintendo Switch adventure that will turn everything you’ve come to expect from side-scrolling games upside down! Explore a diorama-like world made of stuff like boxes and paper cups, where each side-scrolling stage has the traditional front side as well as a flip side with different views and surprises.
Many unusual obstacles litter the landscape, and a well-placed egg could open up new pathways! Explore every nook and cranny to track down hidden collectibles throughout the stage as Yoshi heads to the goal. You can even join up with a friend in two-player co-operative action by passing them a Joy-Con controller!
Trials Rising
Trials Rising is the newest iteration of Ubisoft’s gripping motorcycle platforming series. Combining the core gameplay and over-the-top action of the Trials franchise with all-new features, more competition, and a fresh visual look, Trials Rising is the biggest and most ambitious title in the series to date. The competitive rags-to-riches experience is designed from the ground up to gently introduce new players to the acclaimed physics-based gameplay.
With more tracks than ever before, beginners are in for a smooth ride towards mastery, while the skills and nerves of experienced players will be put to the test in the most advanced challenges. This is Trials at its best.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
A brand-new Fire Emblem game with a new story and characters is coming to Nintendo Switch!
The game takes place on Fódlan, where the Church of Seiros exercises great power over the land and its people. As the main character, the player must not only fight on the battlefield but also can move the character freely and interact with other characters to build relationships and gather information at some parts.
This turn-based tactical RPG will put new strategic twists on battling, with formations of troops supporting individual units on the battlefield. Do you have what it takes to survive and conquer in this brand new Fire Emblem game?
