Triumph Is Now Developing An Electric Motorcycle As Well

With iconic motorcycle companies like Harley Davidson working on electric motorcycles, it was only a matter of time before Triumph jumped on the bandwagon as well. The popular British motorcycle maker has announced that it’s also working on an electric motorcycle. Triumph has teamed up with Williams Engineering for this purpose.

The TE-1 project will develop a powertrain for an electric motorcycle in two years. Williams Engineering will be helping out on the project. Those of you who watch Formula 1 motor racing will be quite familiar with Williams.

It will be in charge of developing the batteries for this powertrain. Integral Powertrain is another partner on this project and it will focus on the electric motor while the University of Warwick is going to take care of advanced research. The overall design and development will be Triumph’s responsibility.

The initiation of this project doesn’t mean that Triumph has any plans of going fully electric. The company launched the Rocket 3 TFC just this month which boasts a staggering 2.5 liter three-cylinder engine. Nevertheless, the fact that it has started this project goes to show that Triumph isn’t burying its head in the sand and does want to be ready for the future of mobility.
