Apple has confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 25th of March where the company will most likely announce their new video streaming service. However the company is also expected to announce their news and magazine subscription service, and now we have one more publication to add to that list.
According to a report from The New York Times (via MacRumors), they claim that the Wall Street Journal will be part of Apple’s upcoming news and magazine service. For those who are unfamiliar with the rumors preceding Apple’s upcoming service, it has been suggested that the company could be planning some kind of subscription service where for a fixed monthly price, users can access unlimited news and magazines.
Last year Apple had acquired Texture which was dubbed as the Netflix of magazines, and this is how the company plans on leveraging their acquisition. It is unclear which other publications will be part of this subscription service, but The New York Times and The Washington Post have been confirmed not to be part of it.
Apple has attempted to launch a news service in the past, so it remains to be seen if this will do better. However it seems that there could be some dissatisfaction even ahead of its launch where some publishers don’t seem to think that it will be too profitable for them.
