Westworld Won’t Be Back Until 2020

HBO may be busy with the premiere of Game of Thrones but that series is going to wrap up in a few weeks. The cable giant also makes another series that has a dedicated fanbase of its own, Westworld. Fans of that series will have to wait for a bit longer because HBO chiefs have confirmed that Westworld won’t be back until 2020.

WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt and HBO president of programming Casey Bloys have confirmed to deadline that Westworld won’t be returning to screens until 2020. This confirms recent reports that the show won’t be back this year. Many would have expected that to be the case since would think HBO would have another marquee show for the year once Game of Thrones wraps up.

That’s not something that Bloys appears to be too concerned about, though. He highlights the fact that shows like Veep, High Maintenance, My Brilliant Friend, and others have done a good job of filling the big gap between the seventh and eighth seasons of Game of Thrones.

“Networks often go through these periods when signature shows go away, and people speculate on what the future is. And there’s always something that comes along that you didn’t expect,” Greenblatt added.
